Healing: An Expression of Love

I have had, at times, an almost pathological need to help others delve deep into their core; to mirror their perfection and see them as whole.  I now see that it is an intense need to share the deep well of love that threatens to explode my heart in its desire to leap forth.  It is only now, as another Northern Arizona Monsoon comes hurtling down upon my humble abode - drenching the earth with its bounty of water and lashing forth the intensity of its energy with lightning bolts and the subsequent rumble of thunder, that I get to see the depth of it all.  “Look out”, it shouts; “Here is nature’s blessing, in all of its intense expression.”

My heart leaps out whenever I have cleared away enough of the thorns which my psyche had piled there to ward off rejection and hurt.  The lessons of my childhood created deep wounds, which the little child quickly translated as love = danger.  And yet there still exists a vast reservoir, deep as a primordial deposit of magma, rich and intense as it smolders within the earth’s core, limited only by its ability to find a means of expression.  A volcano, from which to burst forth in all of its intensity the fullness of its bounty of igneous rock and precious stones, is the obvious route.

At times in the past, the depth of this love scared others as well as myself and I did not in the least understand where I was coming from.  It is only recently as I work on the other aspects of myself, bringing them to a higher state of consciousness that I get a clearer picture, as to what is happening.  As a child I was ridiculed for my sensitivity, my tendency to tear up at sentimental or other emotional times, so I tried to hide it.  Now I can appreciate that which is expressing itself is this vast reservoir of unconditional love and I can freely let it loose.

It is in writing this that I am finding the depths of this love and exploring this step in my spiritual evolution.  Perhaps for the first time, I am finding a mature, conscious expression; free of self judgment or concern as to its reception outside of the “spiritual community” to which I have, in the past, restricted myself.

In new age parlance, this could be described as co-dependence; if so, I stand in good company.  If one chose to, Mother Theresa could be considered co-dependent with her need to care for the sick and dying.  Jesus had a deep need to love and heal the masses, etc.  Not to, in any way, put myself in their shoes or category; however this understanding has given me freedom from buying into self or other’s condemnations.

So now, with a deeper understanding and a deeper capacity to love, I can step forth clear as to my intent, clear as to my purpose and clear as to my commitment to be an instrument of Divine Love and Compassion.
